A space where you don't have to pretend you are okay

If you are someone who looks like you’re coping on the outside but feels overwhelmed on the inside, I want you to know you’re not alone.

You might be a lifelong people-pleaser, a sensitive soul who feels things deeply, or someone who works hard to keep everyone else happy while quietly struggling yourself.

Perhaps you’re an undiagnosed neurodivergent adult, or you have recently discovered you have ADHD or you are Autistic, and now you are trying to understand yourself in a new way. You might be a parent doing everything you can for your neurodivergent child, while carrying your own stress, guilt, or exhaustion.

Maybe you grew up with trauma, emotional neglect, or difficult relationships that still leave their mark today, in how you think, feel, and relate to others.

Whoever you are, you deserve a space where you can stop masking, stop pretending, and simply breathe. A space where you are understood, validated, and supported, exactly as you are. Therapy with me is a space where you don't have to be perfect, strong or 'together'. You just get to be you.

I'm Sarah, a trauma informed counsellor with personal and professional experience of neurodivergence. Therapy with me is honest, collaborative and tailored at your pace. There is no pressure to perform and no judgement for how you cope.

I have worked in various support roles for over 25 years. This includes working for the local authority, in a women's refuge, alcohol services and within schools. I currently work part time for Mind, supporting adults with all aspects of their mental health.

Therapies offered

  • Psychodynamic
  • Inner Child Work
  • Person-centred
  • Trauma Therapy
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Neuro-affirming

As a fully-qualified counsellor I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics.

Who I work with

I work with people who are carrying more than they show. The overwhelmed adults who look 'fine' from the outside. You are coping, functioning, showing up but the emotional cost is huge. You are tired of pretending, tired of being strong, tired of feeling alone.

I help the people pleasers who give so much and try so hard and rarely ask for anything back. You fear rejection, fear letting others down. You feel rejection sharply.

You feel deeply, notice everything and often wonder why others don't get it.

Maybe you feel unseen, unheard or responsible for other adults around you.

Therapy with me can help you to reconnect with the parts of you that had to hide or shrink to survive.

How I can help

One of the most important parts of counselling is building a trusting relationship so you feel safe, heard and understood. I will support you to find ways to move forward that feel right for you. We will work together to;

  • Understand your patterns and emotional responses
  • Reduce overwhelm
  • Build Confidence and self-acceptance
  • Heal from childhood wounds
  • Learn tools for emotional regulation
  • Help you to find your authentic self.

My Approach

  • Neuro-affirming - your brain is valid and not something to fix.
  • Trauma Informed - we move gently and safely at your pace.
  • Person centred and relational - you lead the way
  • Inner child and parts work - for healing emotional wounds
  • Psychodynamic understanding - making sense of patterns and past experiences
